Starting off with it showed up rather fast for RC4WD. Less than 2 weeks. Most would say 2 weeks, what the hell that is slow. Well until you have ordered from then and waited for over 4-8 weeks for an item you will think 2 weeks was rather fast.
Then in the title the first thing you probably noticed was RTR! Yes, Ready To RUN. DO NOT be fooled by this! This truck is anything but ready to run. It should stand for Ready to Repair .
When you open the box it doesn't have the wheels and tires on it, no batteries, no body. The controller looks like and feels like some cheap dollar store controller. Nothing like you would get from Traxxas or another company whom stands behind their products and takes pride in everything they sell.
Then to put the wheels on was a pure pain in the ass. For one the spacing was off and the two back tires touched. Can you run a truck when your tires are touching? NO!
Also only 2 wheels would go on! Because they screwed up when they did not put on the wheels and tires to realize that the milled the wheel hexes wrong. They were too large! The wheels would not fit! I am not talking the hexes that you put on the wheels now, the hex cut out in the wheel itself was wrong. I had to wait on new wheels which took a long another 2 weeks to get here.
So, after emailing and sending pictures to RC4WD for a over a week. Yes, over a week in emailing! Since they do not offer you a phone number to actually call anyone. Yeah how convenient of them right? The decide that they will send me spacers! Yeah, spacers for my rtr that has been sitting at my house not being able to run. Which took another week to send them to me.
Rewind a bit to the removing it from the box. Now right after removing from the box and trying the tires. I notice that there is missing screws in some of the wheels. Thank fully they are laying in the bottom of the box, but still why would there be screws just thrown in the box? Why could they not have taken a few more minutes to put them on? Easy fix yes I know, but at this point I am aggravated.
Next I notice I am missing all kinds of screws through out the axels. I search everywhere. These are no where to be found. So, once again I take pictures and start emailing RC4WD. I am still waiting on these parts I might add. Today is April 17, 2011!
Now I have been able to run this truck one time. Yes, one time since receiving this truck and it is back on the table to be repaired. The front end axle dog bone twisted in half! So, instead of ordering and waiting for RC4WD once again. I just rigged up my own to fix it.
Now to my review of this truck. It is far far from being The Beast. It is more like a tired ass run down Pinto. For $899.99 I expected to open the box and enjoy this truck. To have a little well a lot of fun. NOPE! Not the case here.
The truck doesn't climb like they claim. It was just set up wrong. So, yes another modification was needed. I had to lengthen using Axial parts (which is a great company I might add!). So, more money there to fix it. All the arms were different sizes so they needed to be replaced.
Over all this truck is not wroth this much money!
I do have one good review of this truck well it really is not the truck. It is the wheels that are on it. They are really nice wheels. Well once I got the new ones!
I highly recommend that you stay as far away from this truck as you can. Don't waste your money. You are better off getting 900 $1 bills and wiping your ass with them. You will end up with the same feeling that you just flushed $900 down the toilet.
